If there was ever a best time to drive a Toyota truck, this is it. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma has added more capability and more technology. The updates have changed the 2020 Toyota Tacoma trim levels for the better. You may not be ready for a new truck, but the 2020 Tacoma is certainly ready for you. There’s more peace of mind with class-best safety features, more entertainment with standard connectivity systems, and better power outlay with a new transmission. You can still choose between an extended cab with a 6.1-foot bed or a crew cab with a five-foot bed. Six trim levels let you go from most affordable to most exciting to best dressed. Located near Hubbard Mercer Pittsburgh New Castle, Taylor Toyota of Hermitage invites you to choose from SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD-Pro editions.
Toyota offers real value even on the base edition. It does that by offering the latest in dash technologies. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa connectivity are standards. It’s easy to use the seven-inch touch screen and a 4.2-inch color driver’s display. You can opt for a Wi-Fi hotspot. Drivers will appreciate the long list of safety features. To keep you in your lane, a departure warning will sound. To help you see the road without blinding other drivers, automatic high beams raise and lower the light. Pedestrian detection and forward collision warnings are aided by automatic braking. Dynamic radar cruise control slows and goes with traffic.
Like the SR, the SR5 has the Tacoma’s four-cylinder engine. It produces 180 pound-feet of torque. A choice between a manual or automatic transmission is another similarity between the SR and SR5. The exterior becomes more distinctive, adding a charcoal-and-chrome grille and fog lights. Instead of a universal tire pressure system, now each tire is monitored individually. A leather steering wheel offers mounted controls for Bluetooth and other functions. This Tacoma has a bigger touch screen, too. There are more options on this model as well.
The Tacoma is anything but pretentious. Yet that doesn’t stop Toyota from offering the beauty and style of the Limited. The distinctive look is fronted by a silver grille with chrome surround. This trim level has the V6 engine and a standard automatic transmission. It generates 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. Parking is certainly easier with the standard panoramic view monitor and a rear cross traffic alert. The daily drive is safer with a blind spot monitor. The interior wears leather upholstery and a power moonroof. Standard equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a power driver’s chair, a wireless charger, and other amenities. Toyota upgrades the entertainment system, adding its biggest touch screen. Dynamic navigation is fully integrated, offering turn-by-turn instructions.
Slotted between the SR5 and Limited, the TRD Sport has the 278-horsepower V6 engine. This is sure to please the driving enthusiast, which is the TRD Sport’s main reason for being. Rated at 6,800 pounds, towing is assured by a class-IV hitch receiver. For those who tow, this edition may be a priority. Exterior changes include wide-angle fog lights, a class-leading feature. A smoked finish and chrome surround add distinction to the gray grille. Inside push button start gets you going. A power driver’s chair rounds out the standard offerings. However, it is important to keep in mind that this model does not have the safety equipment or advanced amenities of the Limited. Stepping over, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road has the same engine and similar interior features when compared to the TRD Sport. The exterior drops the Sport’s hood scoop and front air dam. Much more rugged, the TRD Off-Road wears black fender flares and skid plates. For trail rides, it has monotube shocks, a multi-terrain system, and a lockable rear differential.
As the top trim, slotted above the Limited, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro wears black leather seats with power-heat functions for the front positions. Its handsome interior shares many upscale features with the Limited. The exterior has a unique lighting signature thanks to LEDs and sequential turn signals. As the most adventurous Tacoma ever, the TRD Pro keeps its trail footprint small with the crew cab and shorter bed. Thicker skid plates and all-terrain tires are logical upgrades to match the truck’s advanced capability. Advanced multi-terrain settings include loose rock, rock and mogul mode in addition to mud/sand and rock/dirt. Drivers can enjoy the help of crawl control, allowing them to steer as the TRD Pro manages the speed and braking. A break-out technology makes its debut here. Using the multi-terrain monitor, a Tacoma TRD Pro driver can see underneath their truck. This makes it easier to deal with debris, rocks or sticks that the truck may encounter.
